How to Choose Your Gi Size
Start with your height and weight to find the closest size range.
Then check the fit variation:
- S — Short: Designed for shorter builds.
- L — Long: Adds length to the jacket sleeves and pants without moving up to a substantially larger Gi.
- XL — Extra Long: Additional length for especially tall, lean builds.
- H — Heavy: Adds room through the jacket and pants without adding unnecessary length.
If you're between sizes, think about how you like your Gi to fit. For a snugger competition-style fit, choose the smaller size. For more room or a more relaxed fit, choose the larger size.
How to Measure
Use a flexible measuring tape and measure while wearing underwear or compression gear.
- Wingspan: Measure across the jacket from cuff to cuff with the arms extended.
- Jacket Length: Measure vertically from the shoulder to the bottom of the jacket.
- Chest: Measure the width of the jacket across the chest.
- Waist: Measure across the waistband of the Gi pants.
- Hips: Measure across the widest portion of the pants.
- Pants Length: Measure from the waistband to the bottom of the pant leg.
For the best results, have someone help you take your measurements.
Still Not Sure?
Choosing a Gi can be tricky when you're between sizes or have a build that doesn't fall neatly into a standard size.
